Fatherhood: Family vs September – the Big Fight!

2015-08-29-14.26.38-DSCF0426Whilst September has never been my favourite month of the year (that honour goes to December, FYI) it is certainly up there in my top 5. Two pleasant milestones take place during this month, both of which I look forward to throughout the summer heat: the start of Autumn, and my birthday.

But September 2015 looks set to turn all of that on its head, and will certainly be the most stressful and chaotic month of this already-tiring year. This September has all the ingredients of a nightmare month. Let me explain why:

Fatherhood: Half-way round the world in 8 days

10400272_15351085071_8644_nThis Sunday, I’m heading to the West coast of America for a series of work-based meetings, which will see me spending 8 days away from my family – the longest time I’ve been away from them in their short lives.

It will also be the first time I’ve ever been away from Freddie for more than a few nights. Back in 2010, when Robert was just 2 years old, I spent 6 days away from him on a work trip to Australia – which he still talks about to this day, though mainly due to excitement.
