Fatherhood²: Guest Post – Captain’s Log: The Shoe Odyssey

Our mission today: to seek out new shoes for three of our expedition members. This will be the first time crew members BoyN and BoyJ have had shoes as they have recently mastered the technical skills needed for walking.

Terrain: Hard going. Today we will need to transit the area of ‘Oxford Street’ in order to reach our planned goal of ‘the Clarks Shoe Shop’ – which is the only shop in the vicinity that will give us our 10% TAMBA (twins club) members‘ discount. We expect to encounter seasonally migratory herds of shoppers, indignant retail employees, and obstacles of varying degrees on the ground.

Method of travel: Bus, tube, taxi (depending on state of nerves on point of expedition embarkation). We will be using our perambulation vehicle engineered by Messrs Maclaren & Co, augmented by a ‘Buggy Board’ for three year old BoyT.

Fatherhood²: Which is Smarter – A 3 year-old or Some Pigeons? [VIDEO]

A short video which amused me quite a bit, taken this weekend when we went to feed the ducks on the Thames…

My Year in Photos – February 4th – “I Googled my son…”

Good news – my order from the Google Store FINALLY arrived today, just 4 months after I ordered it! To be fair to Google, when I finally figured out the right way to contact support (there were several methods that didn’t work) they sorted it out pretty quickly, with the best bit being that they changed this baby vest to a bigger size, since Robert would no longer fit in the one I ordered!

Robert seemed to like it enough, as this picture showed – and best of all, I managed to get a photo of it before he covered it in dribble, as he is prone to do these days. Good old teething!

My Year in Photos – January 29th – “Building up to bedtime”

My Year in Photos – January 29th, originally uploaded by henweb.

At the end of what has been a pretty fecking tiring week, I was pleased to come home and find that Robert was feeling much better, so much so that when I walked in he was treating his mum as a trampoline. For those not following my updates, we took Robert to the doctors yesterday to be told that he had not one but TWO ear infections, a bad bout of conjunctivitis, a cold and the ongoing teething issues. Hence why he’s been a bit of a grump lately. Having got him a variety of medicines and remedies, he seems to be on the mend now. I took this photo at about half seven, when he’d normally be fast asleep, but had decided he wanted to play with bricks instead. Having put up with him being grumpy all week, it was just nice to see him being so perky!

My Year in Photos – January 21st – “Superbaby!”

Apologies for the slight blurriness of this image. There was a MUCH better one, but I mistakenly deleted it while trying to Bluetooth it off my phone. Don’t even start me on the evil bloody uneraser programs, which tell you they’re free, show you the file they found, then want you to pay £50 to recover it…!

This was taken while we were trying to get Robert to bed tonight – a thankless task which is getting harder and harder, but is always a lot of fun too. Here Robert was running round the bedroom with a cuddle-robe acting as a cape! He thought it was hilarious…

My Year in Photos – January 17th – “Paint me a picture”

My Year in Photos – January 17th, originally uploaded by henweb.

Well, as my wife just pointed out to me, I’m afraid I’ve failed a bit on my original promise – namely that my ‘Year in Photos’ project wouldn’t just be pictures of my son. My excuse here is that my weekends are understandably filled with spending time with my family. So if you don’t like it, I’m sorry, ha ha. This shot is of Robert doing painting with mummy this morning, which he enjoyed a lot. We didn’t really do much else today, so this was a photographic peak of sorts : )
