My Year in Photos – December 20th – “More snow Vicar?”

December 20, 2010 at 7:41 pm

This was the scene in Reading this afternoon, as another blizzard hit town. Thankfully it wasn’t quite the 3-4 inches we had the other day again, but it snowed enough to give all the cleaned-off cars a good dusting. Probably just enough to form a nice layer of ice over my car tonight, as it’s currently -6 outside…

My Year in Photos – December 19th – “Yes, I do take requests!”

December 19, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Today we attended a family Christmas party, at my Aunty Mary’s house. The photos I took at the party weren’t particularly good (bar a few), but Mary commented to me at the end “Does this mean we’ll be on your blog then?” – the first ever request I’ve taken for inclusion! Ha ha. I am only too happy to oblige, being as it was an excellent party! Today’s photo was actually taken outside the party, as Robert played in the snow with my cousin Euan. But he had a great time, so it still counts!!

My Year in Photos – December 18th – “Look what I made, Daddy!”

December 19, 2010 at 8:35 pm

With an IMMENSE downfall of snow in Reading today, Robert and I were both very excited to get out in to the garden to test out the snowballability – and I’m pleased to report, it was GOOD! As you can see from today’s photo, Robert took great pleasure in making snowballs – though he only actually threw a couple, preferring to hang on to most of them until they stuck to his gloves.

We went to the Pantomime in Reading later in the day, stopping out for a meal afterwards – despite being quite a tired little boy, Robert spent the whole of the walk home making more and more snowballs, falling over in the snow several times in the process. It didn’t stop him though!

My Year in Photos – December 17th – “Snow hits London”

December 18, 2010 at 9:11 pm

This afternoon London (and Reading) finally got it’s fair share of snow – something we seem to have amazingly missed out on in the past few weeks, unlike most of the country. It came in thick and fast, settling straight away. And it’s still here now!

My Year in Photos – December 16th – “It’s like Picadilly Circus!”

December 18, 2010 at 9:05 pm

This evening was the night of the Tamar Christmas party, which I decided to drive to (and from) to avoid the risk of getting snowed-in after the party. It actually worked out very nicely on the way home – I got home in under an hour, which is at least half what it would have taken on the train. But the journey there was a total pain – almost two hours from Chiswick, just a few miles away. The Thursday evening London traffic was a total nightmare, not to mention my Sat-nav causing havoc – which is how we ended up sat in Picadilly Circus for what felt like hours…

My Year in Photos – December 15th – “Frozen lochs”

December 18, 2010 at 2:02 pm

I spent today flying to and from Glasgow, visiting a possible future client. Flying up and back was fairly easy to be fair, and I got to fly over some beautiful frozen scenery – including several frozen lakes, locks and rivers. Glasgow itself was still very snowy, and the meeting went well, so all in all it was quite a good day! I even managed to do some Christmas shopping in duty free, too!

My Year in Photos – December 14th – “Noah’s Ark in London”

December 18, 2010 at 1:49 pm

I was over in Canada Water today attending a meeting – or the middle of bloody nowhere, as it would probably be more accurate to describe it. Upon emerging from Canada Water underground station, I was confronted with this bizarre building – my first thought was Noah’s Ark had finally been uncovered, but I’m assuming it’s not going to look this… rustic, when it’s finished. Whatever it is…

My Year in Photos – December 13th – “No 70s dudes allowed”

December 14, 2010 at 9:04 pm

The guy in this “Do not enter” stance has an awfully unique way of walking… no wonder he’s been banned! Unless of course the sign is telling you not to enter the jaunty dude, in which case it takes on a WHOLE other meaning!

My Year in Photos – December 12th – “Ikea fear”

December 14, 2010 at 9:01 pm

As we were up nice and early, we opted to take a trip to Ikea in Wembley today, to do a little bit of furniture-based Christmas shopping. Considering it’s so close to Christmas, I was surprised by how pleasant-an experience it actually was, with the whole thing only taking a couple of hours.

My Year in Photos – December 11th – “Look! A Polar Bear!”

December 14, 2010 at 8:55 pm

Today’s photo was taken at a garden centre near Reading called ‘Dobby’s’. I don’t know what they’re like where you live, but all the garden centres we’ve been to the last few Christmas have had these impressive animatronic displays, with Polar Bears, Santa Claus, reindeers and the like. Robert seemed to love this one in particular, as you can see from his reaction to this baby moving polar bear.
