My Year in Photos – May 12th – “Art for art’s sake”

May 12, 2010 at 7:34 pm

I’m a little hazy over the legalities of posting a picture of somebody else’s artwork on Flickr, but this painting in the gallery opposite the Tamar HQ tickled me so much that I couldn’t help it. It’s called “Blushin’ Dolls” by the way.

My Year in Photos – May 11th – “Dark clouds over Reading”

May 11, 2010 at 8:32 pm

I snapped this photo from Robert’s bedroom this morning, looking West across Reading. I usually open the blinds to see a blaring sunrise, but this morning there were dark clouds on the horizon. I wonder if Gordon Brown awoke to see the same thing?*

* Just to clarify, Gordon Brown didn’t spend the night at our house, and anybody who says he did is a liar…

My Year in Photos – May 10th – “The Naughty Chairs”

May 10, 2010 at 7:49 pm

I’m afraid today was another one of those days when I was too busy doing silly amounts of work that I neglected to take any interesting photos – so I snapped this photo of the corridor outside our office on my way out. I refer to these chair as the naughty chairs, which over the years seems to have caught on around the whole company. You never like the feeling you get when you’re asked to go out to the naughty chairs… :D

My Year in Photos – May 9th – “Robert picks his board”

May 9, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Another reasonably quiet weekend day today, with the main highlight of my day being a trip to a local garden centre with Robert while Sara did her marking. Today’s photo shows Robert testing out skateboards, which he proceeded to do as soon as we walked in to the ‘Toys and Games’ section – before wandering off with a watering can to water all the artificial flowers (video to follow!)

My Year in Photos – May 8th – “Passed with flying colours”

May 8, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Being a bit of a grey and windy day, we are spending our Saturday doing what the weekends are designed for – relaxing. Thus there hasn’t (so far) been much opportunity for any interesting photos. I did however get my car MOT’ed this morning, which afforded me the opportunity to snap this photo – I think the men doing the MOT thought I was a bit of a mental for taking a photo of my car, but hey. At least they didn’t try to charge me for any extra work – the car passed first time, thankfully.

My Year in Photos – May 7th – “Down the Scala”

May 8, 2010 at 12:52 pm

I got to visit a corner of London that I haven’t ever spent much time in before today, around Kings Cross. We were there for a very early meeting, but despite the early start I still managed to get there from Reading with time to spare. So, as is my nerdy hobby now, I had a look around the area, both ‘checking in’ to local attractions on Gowalla and snapping photos of interesting stuff. I chanced upon the Scala while doing this – a place that I have vaguely heard of on lots of occasions, but must admit I don’t know the first thing about, apart from knowing that it’s a famous-ish club/music venue. It looks pretty shabby from the outside though…

My Year in Photos – May 6th – “I love a big Election”

May 6, 2010 at 7:01 pm

As election season draws to a close (hopefully – we might have to do this ALL over again if they can’t resolve a possible hung parliament…) I snapped today’s photo at the end of our road. Our local school – like many – played host to the polls today (queue immigration gag), and it seemed pretty busy. Fingers crossed lots of people turned out to vote…

My Year in Photos – May 5th – “Bond, James Bond”

May 5, 2010 at 7:42 pm

Today’s photo is of a piece of graffiti in one of the back-streets of Chiswick. Well, I say “back street” – it’s not exactly the Bronx, especially as the street in question is actually an alley way that runs behind Cafe Rouge and a the Villandry Kitchen. Either way, it’s a nice bit of Banksy-esque stencilling that I pass quite often, so I thought I’d snap a picture.

My Year in Photos – May 4th – “Springtime in Chiswick”

May 4, 2010 at 7:57 pm

I took today’s photo while out for a stroll at lunchtime. It looks pretty spring-like around Chiswick at the moment, though today was still chill-enough to need my winter coat on

My Year in Photos – May 3rd – “Rear window”

May 3, 2010 at 7:46 pm

As seems to be the tradition here in the UK, the first May bank holiday was a complete wash-out – small intervals of sun were penetrated by rain, wind and even hail. The man on the radio said we should expect a FROST tonight. So not really a great day for spending time in the garden… Despite that, Sara and Robert took advantage of a gap in the rain to do some seed planting and re-potting, which I viewed from the safety of Robert’s room, while myself doing the hoovering. Yes, our day really was that exciting! :)
