My Year in Photos – March 21st – “Let’s bring the splash back”

I finally got round to putting the splashback up today – the weather was nice enough to do all the cutting outside, the, er, hmm, well that was about all that was stopping me actually. The stuff piled up on the kitchen table was annoying us too, so all the planets were in alighnment at last, ha ha.

Putting it up was a lot harder than I thought – we didn’t want to put screws in to ruin the ‘lines’, so it was glue all the way. But glue kind’ve relies on the walls being flat, and as has become typical in our house, nothing is that easy. It’s also pretty impossible to clamp anything to a wall, so we had to rely on simply slathering it in glue (well, PVC adhesive) and hoping for the best.

Only time will tell if they stay on…

My Year in Photos – March 20th – “Living in a box…”

Today’s photo was taken during a very significant moment in Robert’s young life – the clearing of the toys! Due to a massive overspill in his toy boxes of late, we decided that the time had come to put a bunch of his toys in to storage (aka. in the garage) – only the toys he has outgrown, I hasten to add. But we also used it as an opportunity to remind Robert of some of the toys which he hasn’t played with for a while. So what did he find most fun of all? Yes, you guessed it – the toy boxes themselves. Oh well!

My Year in Photos – March 19th – “Feeling monstrous”

After a very long week, most of which was spent trying to pretend I wasn’t coming down with a really bad cold, the bug caught up with me today – probably not helped by a rather late night last night too. So I opted to work from home and nurse myself a little bit – not to mention nursing Sara, who was sent home from school as she’s suffering with the same thing. We managed to plough through, keeping Robert suitably entertained as well – including a lunch-time playdough session which produced these two fellas. Robert’s was the one on the right, by the way…

My Year in Photos – March 18th – “Going down to China town”

Today I attended a meeting with a swanky PR company in the heart of London’s… er, heart. It was on Frith Street – is that the West end? Who knows. Anyway, on my way to said meeting I wandered through China Town, where I took this photo – but I doubt I needed to tell you that did I? Ha ha. The day finished with an excellent meet-up organised by NMA Magazine, but sadly it took place in a very dark pub basement, so none of the photos I took there came out any good! Oh well, probably for the best…

My Year in Photos – March 17th – “It’s grim oop north”

Today I headed up to the glamorous north of England for a day with a client – taking in some very exciting surroundings in the process. Warrington Bank Quay (pictured) is just one of the exciting new train stations that I got to visit today :D

Thankfully, the day with the client itself was a LOT more interesting than the journey up and down. Though to be fair to Virgin, the journey back was made a lot more interesting thanks to some reps from Nintendo who were handing out DS XLs for people to play on during the journey. Just be relieved that today’s photo isn’t one of the awful drawings that the ‘Brain Training’ game made me do…

My Year in Photos – March 16th – “It’s another sign”

I was having a tough day today, partially due to a very large to-do list but mainly due to a very stinking cold, so I took a lunchtime walk to clear my head. Wandering down Chiswick Highroad, I thought I’d head towards Gunnersbury – with the added bonus of being able to check in to a few new places on Gowalla too! I passed Chiswick’s Green Park on the way – a fairly new business park that I’ve not really seen since it was finished last year. I was quite impressed to see not just how nice it is, but the little extras the “Enjoy Work” people have put in – including signs like the one above, which is attached to a lot of the lamp-posts in the area. Made me chuckle!

My Year in Photos – March 15th – “I didn’t know Chiswick had a castle!?”

Without wishing to go over old ground, I was once again stopped from parking in my usual road today by the tree-chopping antics of Hounslow Council, so I was forced to park a few streets away. But I was quite pleased to do so when I got out of my car and noticed this amazing building on the other side of the road. It appears to be a regular house in an otherwise uninspiring residential street, but seems to have been built / renovated by somebody who fancied themselves a bit of a castle owner. The impressive ramparts go all the way around all 3 floors, though no other attempts to castlify it seem to have been made – though to be fair, I didn’t check through the gates to see if there was a drawbridge. Maybe I shall park there again tomorrow and take a closer look!

My Year in Photos – March 14th – “I think it’s a sign”

On our second day in Charlton Mackrell, we started Mothering Sunday with a walk to the village park, where I took this photo. I should point out that I was planning on putting up a photo of my mum for Mothers Day, but figured she probably wouldn’t thank me for the public outing, so I opted for the sign instead… Happy Mothers Day everyone!

My Year in Photos – March 13th – “Local beer, for local people!”

Today we’ve spent the day with my parents down in Somerset, where we’ve come for Mothering Sunday weekend. One of the things we did during the day was visiting their local farm shop at Pitney, a nearby village. As well as these delicious local beers (and I do mean local – they were brewed and bottled just a couple of villages away) we got to have a look at their lambing shed, where we saw dozens of new-born lambs, as well as some rustic cows. A lovely afternoon visit – Robert was in his element!

My Year in Photos – March 12th – “It’s the little people”

While walking across Chiswick Green today, I noticed this little entrance-hall-style tunnel underneath a very big tree. I have a sneaking suspicion that it may be the entrance to a very cool tree-based mansion for a tiny mouse. What else could it be, after all?! :D
