My Year in Photos – November 3rd – “Make like a tree…”

I know this looks like another entry where I’ve forgotten to take a photo all day, but it’s really not. I bloody love autumn, so I tend to take a lot of pictures of leaves…!

My Year in Photos – November 2nd – “And the winner is…”

The highlight of my day today was watching the Master Chef final on BBC2. Despite finding Gregg Wallace more annoying than a bout of Flu, having invested weeks of my life on this I obviously had to watch the crescendo. I won’t spoil it for those of you that might have recorded it, but the winner was quite deserving, in my humble opinion.

My Year in Photos – November 1st – “Car Sticker #FAIL”

I was driving behind this car for quite some time today. Well, to be more accurate I was stationary behind it, but that doesn’t make much difference. Either way, I spent a long time staring at it – eventually spotting the slight hypocrisy of having these two car stickers next to each other…!

My Year in Photos – October 31st – “The Christmas Unicorn”

We headed to a couple of garden centres near Maidenhead today – partially to look around, but mainly to take advantage of their excellent children’s play areas! : ) Both were obviously decked from head to toe in Christmas tat, but my favourite display by far was the one above. I’m getting quite used to seeing animatronic animal displays at Christmas now – I could name you at least 5 places where you could stroke an animatronic polar bear, if that’s your thing. But this one was the first one I’ve seen that featured a Christmas unicorn! Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate that a unicorn is about as real as Santa Claus, but it still seemed like a strange addition to the display…!

My Year in Photos – October 30th – “Psychedelic Robert”

We were at my Brother’s house today, for a Hallowe’en party – mainly populated by children between 2 and 7 years old. As you can from Robert’s costume, he went dressed as a pumpkin! The strange light show you can see in front of his face was a spinning light stick… thing, which somebody had bought. Later on in the party, a 3 year old walked up to me clutching the stick and said to me “Do you feel more chilled up now?”. Bless him.

My Year in Photos – October 29th – “Plumage”

Despite actually having taken some (slightly) more interesting shots today, this strange cloud / vapour trail / plume intrigued me as I walked past Chiswick library today, so I had to take a picture. I have no idea what it was though. True story.

My Year in Photos – October 28th – “Sunset over… some houses”

A couple of busy days in a row has resulted in me resorting to that old faithful of photo topics – the nice sunsets I see as I’m walking home! This one was actually much nicer than you can see here, but I guess the iPhone camera wasn’t built to take David Bailey-level photos. Or maybe I wasn’t…

My Year in Photos – October 27th – “This picture is not for sale”

Whilst wandering round Chiswick today, I happened past one of the many ridiculously-posh charity shops on the high street. Unlike most charity shops in most town, the Oxfams and other second-hand shops in Chiswick are stuffed to the rafters with designer clothes, collectible items and antique jewellery. What made me most about this Oxfam, though, was the amount of effort they’d put in to their window dressing. Almost half of the items in the window had these “This BLAH is not for sale” stickers on them, which made me chuckle quite a bit. It almost makes me wander whether they’ve bought these props in from a collectibles shop, but don’t want to sell them for fear of upsetting their expensive window dresser…

My Year in Photos – October 26th – “In a dark alley”

I’m sure I’ve taken a shot of this alley way as part of this project before, but as I walked out of the office this evening it reminded me of the street from the starting credits of ‘Dragon’s Den’, so I thought I’d snap a photo…

My Year in Photos – October 25th – “Happy Vanniversary”

Today was the first day in this photo project where I had a genuine panic (the next morning) when i thought I’d forgotten to take ANY pictures all day. Considering it was Sara and my anniversary, I had been planning to do something Sara-related for the photo – so I was kicking myself when I forgot. Evidently a long day, a big Indian take-away and a bottle of wine aren’t condusive to creativity – who knew.

Thankfully I found this shot as I was browsing my photos the next day – I snapped it whilst driving in to work in the morning, amazed at how tall this van looks (It looks like a van has been mounted on another vehicle’s base, IMHO). It’s not the most romantic of anniversary shots, but at least I got a good pun out of it!
