Fatherhood²: Spot the Toddler – The Return of the Pox
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about our experience with Robert contracting chicken pox while we were away on holiday in the Isles of Scilly. Whilst I appear to have been fairly realistic about Freddie’s prospects of catching it too, my buoyant mood clearly gives away how lightly I thought we’d gotten off.
In typical fashion, I definitely spoke too soon – pride before a fall and all those other cliches. No sooner had I hit ‘Publish’ on that post, Freddie began to display his own collection of pox-spots – and boy oh boy did he have a LOT of spots.
As you can see from the photo above, poor Freddie seemed to get chicken pox about 5 times as bad as his brother did – he was covered from head to toe in itchy little blotches, and the remnants are still sticking around today – over two weeks later.

Sad News for La Senza Fans (Warning: May Contain Puns!)
If you’re the type of person who likes to keep a-breast of the latest business news, you’ll doubtless be aware that lingerie chain La Senza is close to going bust, possibly due to sagging profits. Other possible reasons for the announcement have been speculated, including: A lack of support from share holders; A depletion of capital in their war chest; PR coverage dropping to little more than a handful of stories; Or simply plunging interest in the market.
Initial reports suggested administration was being sought, though recent brief updates have suggested store closures is the worst it could go – uplifting news for lingerie fans, who are keen to clutch any good news to their bosom in these confusing times.

My Year in Photos – November 10th – “Wrong photo”
If I hadn’t been quite so knackered today, I would have taken a photo of the film set they spent the entire day building behind our offices. Somehow though, I managed to forget, so instead had to go with a photo of the nearest thing to hand. And in our house, there’s an above-average chance that whatever is to hand will probably have something to do with Robert, as this Lightning McQueen bubble bath does…
Funny Video of the Day – Kevin Smith takes on Jesus
Even if you’re familiar with the Podcasting work of Director (and raconteur) Kevin Smith, you may not have seen one of the “Smodimations” that Steve Stark produces to ‘illustrate’ them occasionally. They’re a real audio-visual treat, with the bonus being that Stark has an average of about 5 hours of audio to choose from each month – so he usually picks a real gem. In this edition (you can find more here) Kev and Scott talk about the return of Jesus…
My Year in Photos – November 9th – “Real-life Cars”
If you too have a child that has forced you to sit through the Pixar film ‘Cars’ as many time as I have, you stand a good chance of understanding why I saw this car and thought to myself “Ooh, Robert will seeing that”… It’s DJ! If that makes no sense, look at this:

My Year in Photos – November 8th – “Night-calls”
Today’s photo was taken as Robert was going to bed, due to his insistence of taking his plastic mobile phone to bed with him. It’s a little ‘Bob the Builder’ phone that came free with Cbeebies magazine, which is a very big fan of. “I take photo of you daddy” said Robert, then “You take picture of me and my phone on your EYE phone, daddy!”. So I did!
My Year in Photos – November 7th – “Leave the boy alone”
In order to stave off the boredom of a quiet Sunday afternoon at home, we took Robert to the park down our road this afternoon, for a quick go on the swings. Despite our best efforts, the only thing Robert wanted to do was run around, jumping in the big piles of leaves that other Children were making. He had a whale of a time!
My Year in Photos – November 6th – “Twisted fire starter!”
We decided to let off one of the Chinese lanterns which I’d bought for our trip to Hereford tonight, with mediocre results. We never got a chance to set them off in Hereford, due to the fire-risk they pose in an area full of hay barns – so we let this one off in the heart of Reading instead…! It wasn’t until we let it go that I realised I’d spotted several low-flying helicopters buzzing around the skies over Reading earlier on – thankfully none were in the lanterns flight path though, or I could have been in trouble!
My Year in Photos – November 5th – “Office Games”
Pictured today is the newest addition to the Tamar office – a snazzy (second hand – bless you eBay!) pool table, which we’ve set up in one of our “relaxation” areas. I’ve not had a go yet, as the people who have seem to be much better than me. So I think I might wait until I have to stay late one night and have a game on my own, first!
