My Year in Photos – February 17th – “Love in the trees”

Busy day for me at work today, with a trip to the IAB over in Holborn in the afternoon. I took this photo on the walk to the tube afterwards – I’d just been turned away from Holborn due to an “incident”, so decided to walk over to Covent Garden. I saw all these balloons, stuck in a tree, outside a restaurant on Old Queens Street. They appealed to me as I immediately wandered how they ended up there… though I felt like a bit of a div taking a picture of them whilst everyone else was rushing past me!

Dearest iPhone – will you marry me?

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you may know that I was lucky enough to be given an iPhone at work this week. As somebody who previously thought they were a little… Over-rated, I should now state that I will happily eat my words, and tell you that i bloody LOVE the thing. It’s frickin’ brilliant!

As well as some brilliant apps for just about everything, I can now update this blog straight from my phone using the WordPress app. Though having said that, I could just about update it from my old Blackberry too, so this probably won’t make me any better at being interesting!

I shall try not to turn into an iPhone bore, I promise…

My Year in Photos – February 16th – “Forget pancakes…”

Now that the kitchen smashing is done, we’re waiting for the plasterer to arrive before we can do anything else. So today was a bit of a relaxer, with me still being off work and Sara obviously being on school holidays.

Today’s photo is of a Brio track I constructed using some of the new track and supports that I went and bought in town – yes, I DID buy it for Robert, honestly…

My Year in Photos – February 15th – “Thinking INSIDE the box”

It seems a little early in the day to be updating this, but being on holiday for the majority of this week means I’ve already filled my ‘unusual’ quota for the day. I’m pretty confident that the rest of our day will be pretty quiet, seeing as we’ve already been to B&Q to buy all the new kitchen cabinets, and removed all the old tiles too.

We also took delivery of our new hob and oven, the box of which Robert can be seen enjoying in today’s photo…

My Year in Photos – February 14th – “Romance in the kitchen”

Okay, so the use of the term ‘romance’ in the title is probably a bit of a lie… We spent Valentines Day demolishing the top half of our kitchen, which is the first part in Stage 2 of the kitchen refurb – Stage 1 having been the replacement of a few of the cabinets and all the doors on the floor-based cupboards.

Stage 2 starts with the removal of all the wall cupboards (we can’t replace the doors on these, as the standard wall cupboard height has changed from 60cm to 72cm, I believe); Once the cupboards are removed, we’ve got a plasterer coming round to redo parts of the wall, then we’re putting up the new splash-back, replacing the worktop, and finally putting up the new cupboards and doors. Simples…

My Year in Photos – February 13th – “Down on the farm”

For those of you who don’t have restless toddlers to entertain, the opening dates of local fams, parks, zoos and attractions probably don’t bother you too much. For us though, today being the first day that most of the parks near us are open for the year was a very exciting day!

We chose to head to Bucklebury Park Farm, which is quite near to us and thus reasonably easy to get to. What we hadn’t quite banked on was the freezing cold weather – no sooner had we walked out of the car, the snow started to (albeit lightly) fall… We still managed to have a lovely morning out with Robert, including feeding some lovely miniature ponies that you can see in the photo above.

My Year in Photos – February 12th – “My phone, iPhone”

Today was a good day for technology, with my new iPhone arriving at Tamar HQ. Subsequently, this is probably (or should I say, hopefully!) the last photo I shall take with my faithful Blackberry. How mean of me to make it take a photo of it’s replacement!

I’m very pleased to finally be part of the iPhone crowd, despite my regular mocking of ‘Mac people’ – and a big thank you is due to my boss and Tamar’s ‘The Guv’, Tanya Goodin – without whom this iPhone would still be a distant dream. Thangs guv!

My Year in Photos – February 11th – “I ain’t got no beef…”

Busy day for team-Social today, with not one but two potential clients to meet, as well as a lunch with a couple of friends from NMA, Will and Charlotte. The photo above was taken in the restaurant we at lunch in – Gaucho on Charlotte Street. Gaucho isn’t something I’d experienced before (much to Steak-loving Will’s shock) but I can report that it was a delightful, if a little overly-beefy experience – cow-hide chairs…! The steak was delicious though, so a good experience all round.

My Year in Photos – February 10th – “Sunlight!”

Despite the beautiful blue sky you can see in this photo – taken this afternoon – just over an hour after it was taken I was stood in the middle of what can only be described as a blizzard. You know the UK is ‘over’ the snow when it had been falling for at least an hour this afternoon before anyone even deemed to comment on it. I’m still firmly in the ‘love snow’ camp, but to be honest it was such rubbishy, fluffy snow, there isn’t much good can come from it apart from getting you cold.

The photo was taken in one of the many odd corridors that there are in our building at work – a building which was apparently once a carpet factory, though you’d think it was actually a prison from this area of the building. I took the photo from the edge of B-block, near the warden’s office :D

My Year in Photos – February 9th – “Don’t eat the fish”

Today’s photo is of our office manager, Anthony, after what can only be described as a mammoth clean-out of our office kitchen. You don’t want to know what he found in this box of cereal which had been sat at the back of one of the communal staff cupboards, but needless to say we’re now going to keep a much closer eye on expiry dates from now on… :O
